Kimi Räikkönen tested a GP3 car!

Lotus F1 driver Kimi Raikkonen tested on Friday, a GP3 car in Barcelona.

Raikkonen offered his know-how as a favor to the Finnish Koiranen GP team.

- I wanted to test the GP3/13 car because my friend Afa Heikkinen has a team in this series, and I am closely following their progress and results since the beginning of the season. I was interested to see how the car behaves, and it was fun to drive. The behavior of the car had a few problems, but we were able to solve most of them. GP3/13 is a very good tool for young drivers, especially when you need to learn how to care for the tires, just like in Formula One, Raikkonen commented on the GP3 Series website.

Raikkonen drove on the Circuit de Catalunya on Friday, a total of 58 laps and 270 kilometers.

The GP3 Series and the tire manufacturer Pirelli's official test session examined the tires and how they behaved.

-Kimi's experience and the feedback was invaluable and helped us to understand better what you need to do to make the car work better for overtaking next season, the GP3 Series technical director Didier Perrin said.

-We want to thank Kimi for testing with us and Koiranen GP for making this possible.

Sir Stirling Moss was the best driver without a championship. Here is a documentary about him.

F1 TREASURES IV

Today I walked by a bookstore and there was a sign in the window that said "Free books!".
My first reaction was "I bet the books are very bad if they can't even sell them".

But I could not resist to take a small peak of what they had to give away.
It was mostly rubbish but then I saw a book with cars on it.

I picked up the book and there was even an old Formula One car on the cover!

The only problem is that this book is in German. I have studied some German in school but it is a bit rusty when I haven't used it at all. My own language is swedish and there are some similar words in both languages so it helps a little.

Unfortunately the book wasn't about Formula One that much even though there was a F1 car on the cover. The only pages about racing were these..

..and these.

Better luck next time! But no harm done when this didn't cost me anything.

Matti Kyllönen

I have been talking about the Finnish people being very patriotic and crazy about their Formula One drivers. There are a lot of videos on YouTube that are recorded from Finnish TV. Unfortunately the non-Finnish people can't understand a single word they are saying.

Now we have a video with subtitles!
I made these subtitles myself a little while a go so you better enjoy this video!

The commentators in this video are named Matti Kyllönen and Erkki Mustakari. Matti Kyllönen is the Murray Walker of Finland. He quit a few years ago but we can still enjoy his commentating thanks to YouTube.

I started following F1 in 1991-1992 and I watched the races from Euro Sport in english. Later I watched them from Finland's MTV3 and I could not go back to Euro Sport after I heard this Matti Kyllönen commentating. He was great!

Press play and see what it is to be Finnish and how the Finns watch Formula One.
