2017 Spanish Grand Prix review

The start of the race was interesting. Ferrari's Sebastian Vettel had just one day before told Lewis Hamilton that he should keep an eye on the other Mercedes driver Valtteri Bottas. Hamilton did just that and Vettel had nobody to block him. He lead the race after the first corner followed by Hamilton, Bottas and Red Bull's Daniel Ricciardo.

Bottas seemed to be fastest at the start but didn't have any room to move in any direction. Was forced to stay where he was.

Ferrari's Kimi Räikkönen and Red Bull's Max Verstappen had just a few seconds earlier been in 3rd and 4th place but clashed into each other and they both had to retire.

We all saw the little Ferrari (or Kimi) fan crying over Kimi's retirement. It was really sad.

Vettel continued in the lead and Hamilton even said that he couldn't keep up with the Ferrari but in 15 laps the german pitted and got stuck in traffic. Hamilton took the lead easily. Bottas even held Vettel back for very long and all the F1 fans loved the fight! Superb racing if you ask me.

Unfourtunatelly Bottas retired later which was sad for Mercedes but at least Hamilton stayed in the lead and won the race followed by Vettel and Ricciardo.

My favorite part of the race though, it had nothing to do with racing, but still it really melted my heart.

Kimi invited the little man, who had cried when he retired, to join them at Ferrari to watch the rest of the race. Kimi also gave him a cap with his autograph on it. The little boy couldn't be more happier. Even his mother was in tears almost the whole time. Driver of the race? KIMI RAIKKONEN!!

This review was a bit short but honestly (like Vettel would say) how much more is there to talk about? I could mention two things...

McLaren's Fernando Alonso did a great job in qualifying but I knew that he wouldn't get any points. That's why I wrote in my preview that Alonso always finds even more speed in his home GP but the McLaren hasn't been that good yet so....

The other thing to mention was Toro Rosso's Carlos Sainz exiting the pits. I mean what was that?! He drove on the gras and was not ready to take the blame from it even though he went there himself. Take a look....

That's all. Now it's time for my predictions and the results:

Pole position: Lewis Hamilton, Mercedes - CORRECT

The race:

  1. Lewis Hamilton, Mercedes - CORRECT
  2. Valtteri Bottas, Mercedes - WRONG. He retired and Vettel was 2nd.
  3. Kimi Räikkönen, Ferrari - WRONG. He retired and Ricciardo was 3rd.
Fastest lap: Kimi Räikkönen, Ferrari - WRONG. Hamilton was fastest.

Surprise: Sebastian Vettel will have a surprisingly bad race - WRONG. His teammate had the bad luck.
