I almost forgot that I had promised a "Random Formula One World Records"-post about the younger drivers for today.
Most of these records are probably going to say Sebastian Vettel.
Please note that these records were made before the date 14.8.2013.
So let us begin then!
- Youngest driver to drive at a GP weekend: Sebastian Vettel - 19 years, 53 days (Turkish GP 2006)
- Youngest driver to start a race: Jaime Alguersuari - 19 years, 125 days (Hungarian GP 2009)
- Youngest driver to win a Grand Prix: Sebastian Vettel - 21 years, 73 days (Italian GP 2008)
- Youngest driver on pole position: Sebastian Vettel - 21 years, 72 days (Italian GP 2008)
- Youngest driver to set the fastest lap in an official F1 Grand Prix session: Sebastian Vettel - 19 years, 53 days (Turkish GP 2006 - Friday 2nd practice session). This was also the first day he drove a F1 car at a Grand Prix weekend.
- Youngest driver to start from the front row in a Grand Prix: Ricardo Rodriguez - 19 years, 208 days (Italian GP 1961)
- Youngest driver to set the fastest lap in a Grand Prix race: Nico Rosberg - 20 years, 258 days (Bahrain GP 2006). He made this record in his first race!
- Youngest driver to stand on the podium at a Grand Prix: Sebastian Vettel - 20 years, 73 days (Italian GP 2008)
- Youngest driver to score points in Formula One: Sebastian Vettel - 19 years, 349 days (US GP 2007). This was also his first race.
- Youngest driver to lead a F1 Grand Prix race for at least one lap: Sebastian Vettel - 20 years, 89 days (Japanese GP 2007)
- Youngest driver to win a race from pole position: Sebastian Vettel - 20 years, 73 days (Italian GP 2008)
- Youngest driver to take pole, victory and fastest lap at the same weekend: Sebastian Vettel - 21 years, 353 days (British GP 2009)
- Yougest driver to take pole, victory, fastest lap and lead for every lap: Sebastian Vettel - 24 years, 119 days (Indian GP 2011)
- Youngest driver to win a drivers world championship: Sebastian Vettel - 23 years, 134 days (2010 season). He is also the youngest double and triple world champion + the youngest to win three drivers world titles in a row.
- Youngest drivers world championship runner-up (at the moment he secured his 2nd place): Sebastian Vettel - 22 years, 121 days (2009 season)
- Youngest world championship leader: Lewis Hamilton - 22 years, 126 days (Spanish GP 2007)
- Youngest GP winner for two different teams: Sebastian Vettel - 21 years, 287 days
- Youngest GP winner at the same Grand Prix on two occasions: Sebastian Vettel - 23 years, 98 days (Japanese GP 2009-2010)
- Youngest average age of podium finishers: 23 years, 350 days (Sebastian Vettel, Heikki Kovalainen and Robert Kubica)
- Youngest average age of front row drivers: 23 years, 102 days (Brazilian GP 2010 - Sebastian Vettel and Nico Hulkenberg)
There is a lot of records set by Sebastian Vettel! I knew that he had set a lot of these but didn't know that he had broken this many records!
