2014 Brazilian Grand Prix review

Interlagos has always brought us interesting races but I was a bit disappointed. There was no rain which could have mixed the grid up a bit with some retirements etc. Of course after Jules Bianchi's crash I have been very careful about wishing for a slippery track. It's not always just interesting when it rains. It can be very tragic too. We are still waiting for Bianchi to recover.

I am trying to keep this short because sometimes I talk too much. I'll say a few things that pops into my mind.

Congratulations for Felipe Massa's podium at his home Grand Prix! Very good that he is getting better results finally. It has looked a bit too easy for Valtteri Bottas but now Felipe has found his speed again.

Speaking of Valtteri Bottas, what happend with him in the race? Every time he went to the pits there was a hold up. He also had difficulties with his seatbelt and tyres. At least he didn't retire and scored a point.

The other finn Kimi Räikkönen did good on those old tyres! His teammate Fernando Alonso had a lot of difficulties passing him even though he had much newer tyres. Great that Ferrari let's them race. More of that please!

Jenson Button was also amazed how Kimi managed to do so well with those tyres. He pitted so early and drove most of the race with the same tyres. Button himself did pretty good too! He was 4th right after the Mercs and Felipe Massa. I really hope Jenson finds a good seat next season. Some have even rumored that Button might retire from Formula One after this season.

Lewis Hamilton could have won the race but did a big mistake in the first corner in the middle of the race. He did a mistake in practice also in that same corner. Braking to late are we? Or is the car or tyres to blame? Who knows...

Nico Rosberg won the race for the 5th time this season and was obviously very pleased with the situation.

Now let's see my predictions and how well it went:

Pole position: Lewis Hamilton, Mercedes - WRONG. His teammate Nico Rosberg took pole.

Race:

  1. Lewis Hamilton, Mercedes - WRONG. His teammate also won the race but Lewis wasn't far behind.
  2. Nico Rosberg, Mercedes - WRONG. He was one step higher.
  3. Valtteri Bottas, Williams - WRONG. His teammate Felipe Massa was 3rd. Bottas had some problems in the pits.

Fastest lap: Lewis Hamilton, Mercedes - CORRECT. This was my only point for the PREDICTORS LEAGUE.

Surprise: Jenson Button will have a great weekend - CORRECT. He was as good as you could be with that car. I was almost sure that he would be right after the top3 and he did just that.

Post your own predictions to our F1-4-LIFE PREDICTORS LEAGUE!

The rules:

POINTS:  1st - 3  2nd - 5  3rd - 10

HOW IT WORKS: the aim of the game is simply predict who comes where in the race (top3). A total of 18 points can be won on a race day. If you get winner and and 3rd place right but 2nd wrong you get 13 points same if you get 1 correct. eg. 2nd you get 5 points. If a driver wins the race and you said he would come 2nd or 3rd no points would be awarded. Same if he came in another position, and you predicted that wrong. A table will be posted up every race weekend. The point scoring system will change once the cars become more competitive. Everyone will say a merc 1,2 so it won't be close or fun.

HOW TO SUBMIT YOUR PREDICTIONS: send an email to f14lifeblog@gmail.com or message the Facebook page to submit your predictions. You have until lights out to make them. If you submit them when the race has started they won't count. So be quick! like the Mercedes.

THE PRIZE: the winner of the league will win themselves a admin place on the F1 4 LIFE page along side AE, JT, MW & MH. If you don't want to be an admin you are welcome to participate anyway. We may also come up with some other prize if it helps.

That's it for today and if you want to send me feedback then email me: f14lifeblog@gmail.com
