Let's start by checking out my guesses and compare them with the results.
First the guesses:
Pole position: Sebastian Vettel, Red Bull - Mark Webber will be close.
Race:
- Sebastian Vettel, Red Bull
- Mark Webber, Red Bull
- Fernando Alonso, Ferrari
Fastest lap: Sebastian Vettel, Red Bull - Another Grand Slam for the German world champion.
Surprise: Kimi Räikkönen, Lotus - You never know what this guy is capable of. The last race showed us that not even a serious back pain, no KERS and a bad starting position can stop him. I'm going to keep an eye on this guy. He will be close to the podium and if somebody messes up, of those three guys I mentioned earlier, Kimi will be right there and attack them with full force.
And the the actual results:
The pole position-guess was right and Mark was close, but unfortunately for his sake he got the penalty and dropped 10 positions. The penalty was because he was as a passenger in Alonso's Ferrari in Singapore. A bit stupid thing to get penalized for if you ask me but rules are rules.
The race was won by Sebastian Vettel and this was no surprise. He took pole, the fastest lap and the victory just like I said.
Webber didn't make it to the finish line again as usual and Alonso was surprised by the Lotuses.
The surprise I talked about in the preview was Kimi Räikkönen and I was right about that as well. He started again from a bad position but managed to finish 2nd. Grosjean thought that he would beat Kimi but got overtaken right after the safety car left the track.
It was weird how Romain asked on the radio if he could pass Kimi. Why would they ask Kimi to let Romain pass?? Do they really think that Kimi would have overtaken Grosjean just to give the position back? Eventually they told Romain to "race Kimi" and that he (Romain) is faster.
Romain got a bit frustrated and said that he can't catch Kimi. THEN WHY SHOULD KIMI LET ROMAIN PASS HIM?! I can't understand the logic.
So Grosjean thought that "I can't catch Kimi so can you ask him to let me pass".. come on! Would a real champion or legend speak like that? If Grosjean want's to make it in this sport he needs to change his attitude.
Boullier said again that Grosjean is still learning. Did it take this long for Hamilton or Vettel to become legends? Hamilton almost won the championship in his first season and Vettel won a race from pole with a Toro Rosso!
Grosjean is fast but I am afraid that's all that he is at the moment and that's not enough. I got the feeling that I have said this before..
The driver that impressed me even more than Räikkönen was Nico Hulkenberg. This guy has world champion written all over him. Put him in a Red Bull or Ferrari and there is a dangerous threat to Vettel, Räikkönen, Alonso, Hamilton and the rest.
I remember when he got pole position with Williams years ago. That was the first time the bells were ringing in my head. I just knew that there is something about this guy. He has had much bad luck with his teams so I hope that he will get a good seat for next year. Maybe he will take Kimi's place at Lotus and show Grosjean how to drive. Maybe that will change his (Grosjean's) attitude so that he will try harder.
