2017 Monaco Grand Prix review

Kimi took his first pole since 2008.

As I said on the F1-4-LIFE facebook page; I had military training for a week and didn't have time to write this earlier. I am very sorry for that. I watched the qualifying and the race from my phone and many other soldiers gathered around me. The future is now! :D

Not much to say really. Ferrari's Kimi Räikkönen taking his first pole position since France 2008 was very nice. I also wanted him to win the race because it has been a few years since that happened (Australia 2013 with Lotus).

Kimi lead the race until he had to pit. Ferrari clearly calculated how his teammate Sebastian Vettel could overtake him. Vettel was taken in from the track in a much better time. So frustrating! Can't we see some action instead of this back stabbing? Kimi's race engineer was also furious. Kimi himself was very unhappy on the podium. Even Vettel said that he understands Kimi's feelings. Isn't it obvious then what Ferrari did? Is this what we want to see when we start to watch a race? Hell no!

Mercedes driver Lewis Hamilton started from 13th place because he had an unlucky qualifying session. He was 7th in the end even though it is very hard to overtake in Monaco. Great job from him!

Hamilton's teammate Valtteri Bottas could have gotten a podium but Mercedes screwed up his chances with the pitstop.

Jenson Button replaced Fernando Alonso at McLaren for this race but retired. The Honda engine is a joke. Fernando Alonso was driving indycar instead and also retired.... with his McLaren Honda....

Then it's time for my predictions and see how they went.

Pole position: Lewis Hamilton, Mercedes - WRONG. Kimi Räikkönen was on pole.

The race:

1. Lewis Hamilton, Mercedes - WRONG. He had bad luck in qualifying and was 7th. Sebastian Vettel was 1st.
2. Valtteri Bottas, Mercedes - WRONG. He was 4th.
3. Kimi Räikkönen, Ferrari - WRONG. He was 2nd and Daniel Ricciardo was 3rd.

Fastest lap: Lewis Hamilton, Mercedes - WRONG. Sergio Perez was fastest.

Surprise: Sergio Perez has pushed hard in Monaco but failed almost every time. Maybe he will succeed this year? - CORRECT! He set the fastest lap of the race but Force India isn't good enough to give him a chence to fight for a podium finish.
