F1 TREASURES XI

I haven't done this in a while but here goes.. 

Got my 2014 season review today and it's a double bluray! It took under two weeks to come from the UK to Finland. Just as long as I am willing to wait. Well.. actually when it's F1 I can wait for a year if I have to!

I will write something about the review when I have watched it. It's over 5 hours long so I don't have time to watch it right now.

Later today I bought myself a Lotus deodorant :D It was only 2 euros so why not?

I will try to post more often what I find from stores, flea markets etc. (F1 related items). Haven't had much time for stuff like this lately and some of you have requested me to do these more.

Tomorrow I will post PART 2 of Kimi Räikkönen in the "Finnish F1 drivers" -series.

F1 TREASURES X

This DVD arrived in the mail last week and I have just watched it. I love it when you can buy season reviews etc. when it's between seasons. You get your dose of F1 and you stay happy for a little while.

This was a double DVD with over 5 hours of material. I had ordered this DVD earlier from Spain but I never got it. This came from the UK with no problems.

I have all the season reviews that have been released on DVD and also a lot of the VHS versions as well. I'll try to find them all and take a picture for the Facebook page later.

Earlier this weekend we have asked the fans of our Facebook page to send us pictures of your F1 stuff and also pictures from races etc. So if you have something to show us then please do.

Send them to our facebook-inbox at the F1 4 Life page so that our wall doesn't flow with pictures. We will post them on the wall ourselves if there is something really cool.

I want to thank everybody who have already sent us pictures! It is always interesting to see what kind of Formula One maniacs we have in our "F1 community" ;)

Next weekend it's Formula One time and this time for real! No more testing! No more waiting!

I will post a GP preview again before the weekend as I always do. After the GP I will post a review as well and see how it went.

I am very exited and can not wait for the season to start!

4th day in Dubai

Today I went looking for Formula One related shops and stores. The best ones I found were at Dubai Mall of course because you can find almost anything there.

At first I found a Ferrari store with all kinds of shirts, caps, pants, miniature cars etc.

I wanted this shirt:

..but the salesman said that they don't have those at all. Weird though that he was wearing one of those shirts.

Then almost next door there was a shop that sold random motor racing stuff. DVD's, VHS-tapes, books, clothes, miniatures etc.

I had been in this shop 2 years earlier so I had a pretty good picture what I could find there.

When I made my previous visit I bought 2 DVD's and a VHS tape. The cashier told me that ”the bigger one is a VHS and not a DVD”. I laughed and told her that it is not a problem. They are cheap as hell!

This time I also bought a cheap VHS-tape. Let's hope that my VCR still works cause it hasn't been in use for a while. I also bought a DVD with an old Grand Prix from the 70's. I'll tell some more later about the stuff I bought when I get home.

But If you ever are at the Dubai Mall go to the top floor and check the map for the Ferrari store and Exoto Tifosi for random motor racing merchandise. Both of the stores are located next to the Sega Republic which is very hard to miss.

On Friday it all begins at last, the Abu Dhabi GP weekend, but not for me yet. I am going there on Saturday and Sunday.

Jay-Z, Muse and Depeche Mode are also performing this weekend at the Yas Marina track which is a nice bonus! Anyone who has a GP-ticket may see the concert for free.

In 2011 Paul McCartney was performing after the Grand Prix but I didn't have time to enjoy the concert. I had to get back to Dubai and it seems that this might just be the case this year as well but we'll see.

My 60th post in 3 weeks! - My F1 book collection

This is my complete Formula One book collection. I have got most of these books as gifts.

My friends and family know that I am a Formula One fanatic so it's quite easy to buy me F1 stuff as gifts (unless I already own them of course).

I always get the season reviews on DVD but sometimes it's nice to read about the season from a book. Some books even have extra stuff between the pages. For example the book that is called "The treasures of Formula One" has old cards from different F1 races, ticket replicas from historical races, maps, flyers etc. You can't get that from a DVD!

Some of my books are in finnish because that's my second language. The finnish books are usually extremely patriotic and mainly about finnish drivers. For example the book under Hamilton's biography is a book called "Sinivalkoisia Formula 1 -hetkiä" which means "Blue and white Formula 1 moments". The colors come from the finnish flag of course.

The first finnish driver was Leo Kinnunen in the 70's. He didn't really succeed in F1 but the finns were very proud anyways. Later there was a man named Mikko Kozarowitzky who tried F1 but failed to qualify in 2 races and it was the end of it. Then came Keke Rosberg who became world champion in 1982. After this moment F1 was one of the most popular sports in Finland that was shown on TV.

I went a bit off topic there but I hope you found it interesting. So if you buy a F1 book in Finland it's easier to find reading material about finnish drivers than F1 itself. In my opinion it's a bit strange that some people are more interested about a person than the sport itself. I mean I don't need drivers from my country to drive F1 to enjoy it. I watch it anyways..

If I buy any new books I will post it here and maybe talk a bit about it. A small review if you will.

F1 TREASURES I

Today I went to the flea market. The reason why I go to flea markets is that you never know what you can find. For example you can find books and DVD's that are too old to be in stores and they are much cheeper as well.

Today I found a book from 1996-1997 about the Formula One history (1950-1996) for only 1 euro. Inside the book there was an article cut out from a magazine with the 1997 race calendar.

Then I also found Lewis Hamilton's biography written by Frank Worrall for 5 euros. The book is brand new and it seems that the previous owner didn't even read it. Probably an unwanted christmas present.

The third thing was a "Race World" DVD (area2) about famous racing personalities for 2 euros. At home when I put it on the shelf I noticed that I already have this DVD. 

I guess I have to give it away then. Who wants it?

What to do when the F1 summer break starts

I promised I would tell you what to do when the summer break starts. So here goes..

If you are an ordinary person who loves to watch F1 but you are not a hardcore fan then just enjoy the rest of the summer thinking about something else.

But if you are a super F1 fan like myself then get your videos ready! Buy, order and find DVD's, blu-rays or even VHS's that have something to do with F1 or GP-racing in general.

It depends where you live but where I live we don't really have any F1-shops or anything like that. I buy my DVD's etc. from eBay, amazon, dukevideo, secondhand stores and flea markets. When I am abroad I always look for F1-related shops as well.

Here is all of my F1-related DVD's and blu-ray's that I found today:

I have bought most of these from England, Finland and the Arab Emirates. I also have a whole bunch of VHS tapes from the 90's and 80's. Mostly season reviews and races taped years ago that I have now been transferring to my computer. In fact today I have all GP's from 1978-2009 on a hard drive. Mostly with english commentators but also some in finnish, japanese and portuguese.

So if I watch every single GP from 1978 it means that I have seen more F1 than any man in my age.
I have watched a lot already but there is so much to see! It is extremely interesting to see old races like that. It almost feels like it's live cause I don't always know the results. I just know who is champion that year etc.

If you aren't this lucky to have this many GP's on a hard drive or DVD's etc. you should get your butt to YouTube. You can not believe how much old GP's you can find there! And documentaries as well!

No worries! You will have plenty of F1 to watch until the next GP in Spa. I will also post some YouTube-videos here every day starting tomorrow so you don't even have to look for them.
