F1 Monaco 1965 Full Race

I did it again! I found an even older full grand prix on YouTube for you to watch. This one is again in Monte Carlo, Monaco from 1965.

You can see legendary drivers in this GP such as  Graham Hill, Jackie Stewart, Bruce McLaren, John Surtees, Denny Hulme, Jack Brabham and Jochen Rindt. Very interesting!

The quality is pretty good cause this classic F1 GP is recorded from ESPN a few years ago.

My 60th post in 3 weeks! - My F1 book collection

This is my complete Formula One book collection. I have got most of these books as gifts.
My friends and family know that I am a Formula One fanatic so it's quite easy to buy me F1 stuff as gifts (unless I already own them of course).

I always get the season reviews on DVD but sometimes it's nice to read about the season from a book. Some books even have extra stuff between the pages. For example the book that is called "The treasures of Formula One" has old cards from different F1 races, ticket replicas from historical races, maps, flyers etc. You can't get that from a DVD!

Some of my books are in finnish because that's my second language. The finnish books are usually extremely patriotic and mainly about finnish drivers. For example the book under Hamilton's biography is a book called "Sinivalkoisia Formula 1 -hetkiä" which means "Blue and white Formula 1 moments". The colors come from the finnish flag of course.

The first finnish driver was Leo Kinnunen in the 70's. He didn't really succeed in F1 but the finns were very proud anyways. Later there was a man named Mikko Kozarowitzky who tried F1 but failed to qualify in 2 races and it was the end of it. Then came Keke Rosberg who became world champion in 1982. After this moment F1 was one of the most popular sports in Finland that was shown on TV.

I went a bit off topic there but I hope you found it interesting. So if you buy a F1 book in Finland it's easier to find reading material about finnish drivers than F1 itself. In my opinion it's a bit strange that some people are more interested about a person than the sport itself. I mean I don't need drivers from my country to drive F1 to enjoy it. I watch it anyways..

If I buy any new books I will post it here and maybe talk a bit about it. A small review if you will.

By the way! If you have something F1 related in finnish you would like me to translate then just ask.

1973 F1 Nurburgring Nordschleife

Now I found on YouTube an even older GP than last time! This is not from 1976, this is from 1973!
I am almost certain that Jackie Stewart won this GP. At least he won the championship that year.

This video is without commentating but it doesn't matter to me so hopefully it won't to you either.

F1 TREASURES I

Today I went to the flea market. The reason why I go to flea markets is that you never know what you can find. For example you can find books and DVD's that are too old to be in stores and they are much cheeper as well.

Today I found a book from 1996-1997 about the Formula One history (1950-1996) for only 1 euro. Inside the book there was an article cut out from a magazine with the 1997 race calendar.

Then I also found Lewis Hamilton's biography written by Frank Worrall for 5 euros. The book is brand new and it seems that the previous owner didn't even read it. Probably an unwanted christmas present.

The third thing was a "Race World" DVD (area2) about famous racing personalities for 2 euros. At home when I put it on the shelf I noticed that I already have this DVD.

I guess I have to give it away then. Who wants it?
Send me an email and explain why I should give it to you. I will read all the messages personally. The best answer/reason will get this DVD for free. I will also pay for the shipping.

Send me your answer to f14lifeblog@gmail.com

I'm going to announce the winner some day next week. If you don't want me to post your name then I won't. I will not show your email address or message to anyone either. The best answer will be posted on my blog only with your permission.

F1 Monte Carlo 1976 Full Race

Niki Lauda and Luca di Montezemolo in the 70's.

OH MY GOD!! I FOUND THIS RACE FROM 1976 AND IT'S MONACO! NIKI LAUDA ON POLE. Earlier I said that I have every race from 1978-2009. Here is something earlier than that!
I have never seen this grand prix before and unfortunately it's without commentators. Niki Lauda is probably the winner of this but I'm not sure.

Watch the video and find out! This is by the way the year when James Hunt won the championship.

Kimi Räikkönen on Top Gear just before his comeback

Santander paid Ferrari to kick out Kimi Räikkönen after the 2009 season to get room for Fernando Alonso. A bit sneaky if you ask me but unfortunately money talks in this world and if you have enough of it contracts don't mean anything.

Anyways after he had to leave Ferrari he got sick and tired of the F1 politics and got interested of rallying. He drove for two seasons but wasn't as happy as in Formula One. He missed the overtaking and fighting against other drivers on a racing track. He even tried out a few races of Nascar but it didn't feel the same.

He spoke with the Williams F1 team about returning. He was now sure that he wanted back but maybe not with Williams. He spoke with other teams as well but the only team that he was interested of was Lotus.

People were skeptical about his motivation but he showed them all that he is still hungry. He was third in his comeback season which is very good. This season it looks even better for him.

This Top Gear video is filmed a week before Kimi's F1 return. For some reason I didn't find it on YouTube.
